1.  Charged Printing Policy

CIRCA provides charged access to laser printers in all public labs.  To use this system, the user should print to the appropriate queue from their workstation, and then go to the printer station and release their job, using their Gatorlink ID and Password.  After the job is released and printed, the printer will generate a charge which is sent to UF’s Finance and Accounting office.  The user will receive a bill in the mail in a few weeks.  The amount charged depends on the printer used.

CIRCA supplies paper for the laser printers.  You may use your own paper, but it must be suitable for use in a laser printer; paper thinner than 20-lbs or thicker than 36-lbs will probably jam the printer.  CIRCA will offer no compensation for paper jams if you use your own paper.

CIRCA only supports the use of CIRCA software with these printers.  Please check with a lab opertor to find out what software is available.

CIRCA will provide compensation for pages lost due to paper jams or other mechanical or software problems with CIRCA equipment.  No compensation is available for mistakes on your part.

2.  Current Charges

Network Printing Charges (8/02)

Regular Laser Printer

$0.10 per page

HP Color Plotter

$3.00 per job

Tektronix Color Laser

$0.75

3.   Document formatting

It is your responsibility to make sure your documents are formatted correctly for the CIRCA laser printers.  When you print incorrectly formatted documents, you waste paper and toner. You also waste your money.  CIRCA will not re-print your document; if you want another copy, you must print it at your expense.

Most software packages require you to select the type of printer you will be using.  You usually can select the laser printer while you work at any lab computer to see on the screen how formatting will be affected.  If you need help, ask a CIRCA operator.

If you are printing a long document, look at the first few pages as they come out of the printer to make sure they are printing correctly.  If you notice a problem, cancel printing immediately.  If you are unsure how to cancel, press the CANCEL button on the printer and ask a CIRCA operator for help.

4.  Charged Network Laser Printing Refund Policy

CIRCA will not refund any charges for unsatisfactory output, but will give the user’s account  Credit toward future printing.  Credit for unsatisfactory output is given in the CIRCA lab by the CIRCA operator.  If the user waits a day before requesting credit he must go to the 5th floor of  CSE , room 520 and ask to see the account manager.

NOTE:  CIRCA does not give cash refunds under any circumstances.
