E-mail Setup Instructions for Microsoft Outlook 2007

This article will teach you how to setup your Microsoft Outlook to receive your Gatorlink email. The same set of instructions applies to most previous versions of Outlook.
  1. To setup your Gatorlink Webmail service with Outlook 2007, first click on the icon that should be located on your desktop that looks like this:



  2. Click on the Tools button on the menu bar. Select Account Settings. There you will click the NEW button.



  3. The “New E-mail Account” wizard will appear. Click on Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP. Push Next.



  4. At the next screen, select the box at the bottom that says 'Manually configure server settings or additional server types'. Then press the Next > button.

  5. The next screen asks you to select which type of E-mail service you will use. Select 'Internet Email'. Press Next.




  6. The next screen will ask you for some information. Under “User Information” you will be asked for your name and email address. Type in your full name and your email address @ufl.edu. Under “User Information”. Below Server Information, select 'IMAP' for the Account Type. For the Incoming Mail Server type: imap.ufl.edu
    For outgoing mail server (SMTP), type smtp.ufl.edu
    For logon information, you will need to type your GatorLink username and password.



    • In the Mail Server (Incoming) field, enter the name of your IMAP mail server.
      For GatorLink users: imap.ufl.edu
      For Grove users: grove.ufl.edu
      For NERSP users: imap.cns.ufl.edu
      For other accounts, verify this setting with your e-mail server administrator

    • In the Login Name field: Enter your email account ID (username). In our example , AL E Gator's Gatorlink ID is: alegator

    • This next step if REQUIRED: Under the More Settings Button, select the Outgoing Server Tab. There you will put a check mark on the box that says 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.' Then click on the ADVANCED tab and set your Outgoing Server (SMTP) port to 587. Then Press OK.
       

    Push Next when you are done.

  7. On this last screen all you have to do is hit “Finish” and your email should be set up!
