Connecting to other Computer systems
Other computer systems on the Internet can be accessed by your computer using
terminal emulation software and file transfer programs. Terminal emulation
programs commonly referred to as telnet clients allow you to connect
to and run programs on remote computer systems such as CIRCA's Grove and CNS's
nersp computer systems. FTP clients allows you to transfer files
between your computer and remote computer systems such as CIRCA's Grove accounts,
CNS's nersp accounts and UF plaza accounts. This CD includes:
- HummingBird's HostExplorer provides VT100, TN3270, TN5250, and
VT420 emulation, as well as file transfer program (ftp) services.
- SSH Secure Shell is a telnet and sftp file transfer capability
with encrypted connections to computer systems on campus that provide SSH
servers.
- Core FTP is a file transfer program that allows you to move files form
your computer to another (remote) computer on the Internet. This program
is useful for transfering files to. Core FTP provides SSH/SFTP, SSL/TLS,
IDN, browser integration, site to site transfers, drag and drop support,
file viewing, file editing, transfer resuming, firewall support, custom
commands, URL parsing, command line transfers and more.
