Fetch Help
What is Fetch?
Fetch is a program that can transfer files between your computer and
another computer on the university network or the Internet. Fetch uses
the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and can only be used with other computers
supporting FTP. The Internet has many computers that share files using
FTP.
How to Install Fetch:
Before installing Fetch, verify that your Macintosh meets these
requirements:

- Your Macintosh must be a Mac Plus computer or higher model.
- Your Macintosh must be running under Macintosh System Software 4.1 or
higher.
- Your Macintosh must be connected to a network through networking
software like MacTCP, OpenTransport, or (at Dartmouth) KSP.
To install Fetch:
- Open the Fetch folder.
- Double-click on the Fetch 3.03 Installer.
- During installation you will be prompted as to what to install. We
recommend installing Fetch 3.0.3 Standard.
- Restart your Macintosh after installing Fetch.
After Fetch is installed:
Drag and Drop the files:
- FETCH CACHE
- FETCH PREFS
- FETCH SHORTCUTS
into your Macintosh's Preferences folder. Your
Preferences folder is inside your System
Folder.
How to Use Fetch:
The Fetch Help file contains information on the program.
It also contains a tutorial on how to use Fetch. We recommend that you
read this information.
To access the Help file:
- Open Fetch.
- Open the Question mark pull-down menu and select Fetch
Help.
