I. What is StuffIt Expander?

StuffIt Expander is a program capable of converting compressed and/or encoded files into their original useable forms. This program is capable of expanding seven of the most popular compression and encoding file formats: StuffIt (.SIT), zip (.ZIP), Arj (.ARJ), Arc (.ARC), gzip (.GZ, .Z), uuencode (.UU, .UUE),and BinHex (.HQX). It also supports stuffit, Zip and Arj self-extracting archives (.EXE, .SEA) and Macintosh files in Macbinary (.BIN) format.

System Requirements

This installer is meant for use on Macintosh machines running Mac OS 8.6 through 9.x. StuffIt Expander 6.5.1 is fully compatible with MacOS® X. To install on Mac OS X, please use the installer called "StuffIt Expander 6.5.1 OS X Install."

II. How do I install StuffIt Expander?

For Mac OS v 8.6 - v9.0:

  1. Open the Stuffit STD 703 Classic Install folder and then the Stuffit STD 703 Classic Install program to start the installation.
  2. Follow directions.

For Mac OS X:

  1. Select the Stuffit folder and select the stuffit_std_703_x_install.dmg file. This will open the installer window. Follow the instructions.
  2. Afterwards,close the installer and the installation package window.

III. How Do I Use StuffIt Expander?

The program is simple to use. Open and read through the files in the Read Us
First! folder.
