I. What is NCSA Telnet?
 

This telnet program allows your computer to access other computers on the university network and the Internet. It is capable of VT102 emulation that allows you to connect to UNIX mainframe computers like Grove, NERSP and many other computers on the Internet.

II. How do I install NCSA Telnet?

  1. Open the NCSA Telnet folder.
  2. Drag and Drop the Telnet-2.7b4 (fat) folder on top of the Hard Drive.

III. How do I Use NCSA Telnet?


To open NCSA Telnet, double click on the NCSA Telnet 2.7b4 (fat) file.

  1. Open the File pull-down menu and select Open Special. This is a list of
    computers that NCSA Telnet is preset to connect to. Choose the one you have an account on.
  2. To connect to other computers on the Internet, open the File pull-down menu and select Open Connection. In the Host/Session Name field, enter the name of the computer you want and press the Connect button.
  3. NCSA Telnet will try to make a connection if you double-click on the profiles also.
