How to setup the Dialup
components
- Make sure Modem Port is selected
- Scroll down and click Open Internet Connection...
In the Modem Port dialup Eindow, Make sure Modem Port
is selected and Click Edit
- Select the PPP tab in Network Window, enter the
following:
- Type in Gatorlink as the service provider.
- Enter the telephone number, 9550056
- Type in your Gatorlink username directly followed
by a /i, For example, joegator/i
- Enter your Gatorlink password.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
Note: If you do not know your Gatorlink username or
password, call the UF Computing Help Desk, 392-HELP (392-4357)
- Select the TCP/IP tab in Network Window, enter
the following:
- Make sure PPP is selected under the Configure
menu.
- Click your mouse in the box titled Domain Name Servers.
- Enter 128.227.128.24 and press enter (the periods
are important)
- Now, Enter 128.227.148.253
- Enter ufl.edu in the Search Domains box
- Click Apply Now

to connect to the Internet.
The dialup window should look similiar to the picture. To
connect to the internet with your modem, click Connect. A connection
can always be made by clicking the phone icon at the top right.

Return to Top Troubleshooting
If you cannot connect and you are certain of your GatorLink
username and password,
here are some frequent problems:
- The /i is missing after the username, For Example: joegator/i
- User is outside the (352) area code. In this case, you must add
the area code (352) to the telephone number.
- The modem may need to be changed to the nifty driver version.
To do this:
- Click on the phone icon, followed by Internet
Connections... and then Edit
- Select the Modem tab
- Click on the Modem: menu and select the same
modem except with the word Nifty.
