I. Introduction

These instructions will walk you through how to set up your Macintosh to connect to CIRCA's Walk-up Authentication.

If you have Operating System 9, please follow Step 2.
If you have Operating System X, please follow Step 3.

II. Set Up Your Connection Using OS 9

For your computer to be able to connect to the Internet, some settings must be specified. Please follow the steps below to set up your ethernet connection for OS 9:

  1. Click on the Apple menu, and open Control Panels.
  2. Open TCP/IP. In this new window, select Ethernet, built-in in the Connect via pull down menu.
  3. In this window, select Configure using DHCP Server in the Configure using pull down menu.
  4. Finally, In the Search Domain space, enter ufl.edu and clas.ufl.edu . Close the TCP/IP window, saving changes. Also, close the Control Panels window.
  5. These instructions should enable you to connect to the Ethernet.

III. Set Up Your Connection Using OS 10

For your computer to be able to connect to DHNet's Ethernet Service, some settings must be specified. Please follow the steps below to set up dial-up for OS 10:

  1. Click on the Apple menu, and open System Preferences. You can also access System Preferences through the docking bar.
  2. Click on the Network Icon. In the Location pull-down menu, select Automatic. In the Show pull-down menu, select Built-In-Ethernet.
  3. On the TCP/IP tab, in the Configure pull-down menu, select Using DHCP. Below these settings, two boxes should appear. Leave the DNS Servers box blank. In the Search Domain box, enter ufl.edu.
  4. These settings should enable your computer to connect to the Internet.

IV. Connectint Through a Browser and Troubleshooting

Once you have configured the settings above, you should be able to connect to the Ethernet through the Walk-Up Authentication page. In order to do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Verify that your Ethernet cord is correctly plugged in to your machine.
  2. Open a browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape).
  3. Your browser should directly go to the connect page. If it does not, type in http://connect.circa.ufl.edu into the address bar.
  4. Enter in your Gatorlink username and password.
  5. After you have successfully logged in, you should be able to use the Internet as needed.
  6. Remember, return to http://connect.circa.ufl.edu when you are done and make sure you log out.
